Tired of all the political craziness, stop watching the news. One of the biggest issue in America today is the news media. People will never be united as long as we have news coverage that is only focused on ratings. What ever happened to the good investigative journalism? Today the news media takes a headline puts their spin on, and runs with the story trying to get a big reaction from the people watching. It’s all about the ratings, and the more people get spun up, angry about the story. This is the measure of success of the story. This style of news reporting will continue to divide our nation.
This is not intended to be a political post we have seen enough over the last year. To make my point I’ll take one of the top stories from elections that blended both the Clinton campaign and Trump campaign together with headline news. It all started with the story on Clinton emails, the news media was mainly focused on the impact the released emails had on the election. It very well could have. Why wasn’t more focus put on content of emails, her not following protocol and the lack of security on her non-compliant server. If the non-compliant server was not used maybe none of this would have been a story. The news shifted blamed on Russian hacking and Trump’s collusion with them. If hacking was the concern where was the follow-up questions that tells the complete story on the state of hacking against the United States? How bad is it for our national security? That should be a bigger concern. My point: Lazy journalist, Yes I said lazy! They only go with headlines and rarely dig deeper than the surface of a story. Journalist should be asking the tough questions to uncover the full story. Not just take a headline that produces rating, and stopping at the surface of the story. The people deserve more from our news sources. We deserve the validation of stories, and the tough questions to be asked to get full story. After reading this your mileage may vary we all have our favorite news sources.

I learned many years ago not to get any news from TV or Radio. I like the investigative journalism from the so called mainstream media. The NYT is something I read every day. I occasionally find something that gives me doubt, and do my own research. More often than not, the journalist is spot on. They do their homework and everything is vetted more than it ever has been.
